چکیده

The paper reviews the method of complex potential functions developed by Green and Collins as applied to axisymmetric mixed boundary value problems in elasticity for the half-space. It is shown how the method can be applied to problems in several coupled potential functions such as adhesive and frictional contact problems, to problems involving annular regions and to problems in thermoelasticity. Attention is given to the question of choosing a formulation which leads to a well-behaved numerical solution. Tables are given of the most commonly needed inversion formulae and of expressions for total load and stress intensity factor.

Elzaki transform method for finding solutions to two-dimensional elasticity problems in polar coordinates formulated using Airy stress functions

In this paper, the Elzaki transform method is used for solving two-dimensional (2D) elasticity problems in plane polar coordinates. Airy stress function was used to express the stress compatibility equation as a biharmonic equation. Elzaki transform was applied with respect to the radial coordinate to a modified form of the stress compatibility equation, and the biharmonic equation simplified t...

Fundamental Steady state Solution for the Transversely Isotropic Half Space

Response of a transversely isotropic 3-D half-space subjected to a surface time-harmonic excitation is presented in analytical form. The derivation of the fundamental solutions expressed in terms of displacements is based on the prefect series of displacement potential functions that have been obtained in the companion paper by the authors. First the governing equations are uncoupled in the cyl...

GENERAL SOLUTION OF ELASTICITY PROBLEMS IN TWO DIMENSIONAL POLAR COORDINATES USING MELLIN TRANSFORM

Abstract In this work, the Mellin transform method was used to obtain solutions for the stress field components in two dimensional (2D) elasticity problems in terms of plane polar coordinates. the Mellin transformation was applied to the biharmonic stress compatibility equation expressed in terms of the Airy stress potential function, and the boundary value problem transformed to an algebraic  ...

Quasi-Static Deformation of a Uniform Thermoelastic Half –Space Due to Seismic Sources and Heat Source

This paper investigates the quasi-static plane deformation of an isotropic thermoelastic half-space due to buried seismic sources and heat source. Governing equations of thermo-elasticity are solved to obtain solutions for seismic sources in a thermoelastic half-space. The general solutions are acquired with the aid of Laplace and Fourier transforms and with the use of boundary conditions. The ...

مقایسه نتایج حل ترموالاستیک نیم‌فضا میان

In this paper, transfinite element method is used to analyze the two dimensional thermoelasticity problems. A comparison is made between the thermoelastic analysis results of the classical theory and theories with one or two relaxation times (i.e. L-S and G-L theories), for the half space problem. Governing equations are transformed to Laplace domain and then, node variables are calculated by t...
